2010
We’re approaching the end of 2010 - and it's been a heck of a ride this year at the RocketHub HQ. History will note 2010 as the year crowdfunding emerged as a global phenomenon.
As a part of cool series of articles organized by We All Make Music's Max Willens, RocketHub is showcasing the "Best of 2010 - The Crowdfunding Emergence".
1. Best Crowdfunding Podcast - CD Baby Podcast
The CD Baby Podcast, run by Kevin Breuner, Chris Bolton and Chris Robley, is known throughout the indie music world as the authority on the business and culture of being an independent artist. This past summer host Kevin devoted a full episode to the topic crowdfunding for artists - and came prepped with the "nitty-gritty" questions others were not publicly asking. RocketHub's Brian Meece gave the full scoop on what crowdfunding is and how it works in this intensive 1-hour interview.

2. Best Crowdfunding Integration - All About Jazz Integrates with RocketHub and Kickstarter
AllAboutJazz.com is the leading and longest running jazz music web site, attracting both enthusiasts and industry professionals as a daily resource. As a social enterprise, AllAboutJazz.com is committed to raising the awareness of jazz's cultural significance and historical legacy while playing an essential role in celebrating the creative leaders of today. Recognizing the importance of crowdfunding for the modern jazz artist, AAJ Founder Michael Ricci is giving tools to musicians in his community, who can now drive traffic directly to their crowdfunding page at RocketHub.com or Kickstarter.com by adding the location to their musician profile at AAJ.

3. Best (and first) Crowdfunding Book - "The Crowdfunding Revolution" by Kevin Lawton and Dan Marom
RocketHub had the pleasure of chatting with two brilliant guys, Kevin Lawton (contributing writer to VentureBeat) and Dan Marom (PhD candidate in Finance at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem). They asked if they could interview us for their upcoming publication called "The Crowdfunding Revolution" - and now the book is out. We were honored to contribute quotes, concepts, and are own unique takes on how crowdfunding is changing the world. Our favorite quote? "Beethoven + Social Media = Crowdfunding".
4. Best Crowdfunding Panel - The Recording Academy® DC Chapter
This Fall an educational crowdfunding panel occurred in partnership with The Recording Academy® - the organization that is famous for the GRAMMY® Awards. The RocketHub team was honored to participate in The Recording Academy's Music Box event hosted by the D.C. Chapter at George Washington University. Not only is The Recording Academy good at organizing world-renown music-award extravaganzas, but they also offer a ton of resources for musicians and music professionals at all career levels - even students. This event symbolized an acceptance by the traditional music business that crowdfunding is a part of the "new creative economy" for artists, labels, and producers.
