With a classy yet sharp sound, Chicago-based rock band Adora plays tunes that push and pull the musical spectrum - including orchestrated romantic ballads and cabaret punk.
Adora (the name originates from the French term for love) consists of Stormie Rae Radtke, Keith Pink and Chris Eckstrum.
The talented trio is taking their music to another level by producing its own EP called "Save Yourself" - and crowdfunding the project on RocketHub. We caught up with Stormie Rae (lead vocals) to get the scoop on their campaign thus far and their creative process behind the project.
What was the band's inspiration behind the music project, "Save Yourself", you are currently running on RocketHub? Why is it important to you as a group?
Since this was our very first EP, as a whole it meant a lot to us. Lyrically, my inspiration for the songs on "Save Yourself" came from things I personally experienced during the past year: love, let downs, and figuring out who I am and what I value. I believe the guys would agree that the lyrics reflect things we've all gone through and felt both as individuals and as a family. Our next EP has more of a definite theme, musically and lyrically, but we're still proud of the sound that was developed in "Save Yourself." Again, these songs represent the beginning of our journey as Adora, and trust me, this is only the beginning.
How has your experience been as a crowdfunding pioneer in the world of music - how are your fans and community responding?
Crowdfunding is a great way to help us continue to entertain and write music for everyone. We're blessed to have family, friends, fans, and supporters who are willing to donate, allowing us to reach our goals as a band. Because we're a new band in Chicago, we were surprised to see how many people enjoyed this EP and jumped right into this experience with us. We've raised a good amount of money so far and we're looking forward to rewarding our fuelers with awesome prizes. The overall response is more than we could ever hope for and we're infinitely grateful.
Any advice for Creatives looking to crowdfund a project?
If you're looking to take your project to the next level, crowdfunding through Rockethub is a great way to do so. In order to get quality recordings, you need to invest a lot of time and money. It's a win-win situation for you and your fans: you receive money to fund your next album, and the people who donate that money receive CD's, posters, and other great prizes in exchange. My advice to other bands or projects is to sign up and make sure that everyone knows how crowdfunding works. No one loses! By doing this, fans will be more willing to help out. Post the link to your Rockethub page on many social networks to get maximum exposure. It is a truly brilliant way to gain a fan base and some extra cash.
Much Thanks to Adora for flying with Team RocketHub and sharing these insights - We are happy to have you in our creative community.-Brian
